The Angel: "Run Toward That Which Scares You" Part Six

In the last video, I talked about a mystical experience with the bird called the Bermuda Longtail.  This video, I go in the same direction talking about those mystical experiences that we all face and that we've experienced sometimes. If you're not in the woo-woo I get that, but I think all of you probably have faced something like this in the past.

Back in November 2011, after flying back to Bermuda with the goal of retrieving my boat and setting sail again after the repairs were completed, I felt "stuck" there in limbo.  At least that's the way I saw at the time.

Two weeks before I took off alone once again, I was approached by someone.  A human being who told me something that sent a chill down my spine.  I was feeling frustrated and not knowing exactly where I was going to go next or what I was going to do.

At that time of the year, you have to understand that weather in the Atlantic Ocean is very unpredictable.  Every two, three, four days, maybe once a week, a weather front will come off of the coast of the United States into the Atlantic blowing up into potentially a very strong low pressure system.

I was alone in Bermuda sitting on my boat, wondering where I was going to go.  Everybody will tell you at that time of the year, the best direction to sail is due south to the Virgin Islands or somewhere in the Caribbean. You don't want to go west, because you might run into those fronts.  But ultimately, that's where I wanted to go. To Wilmington, North Carolina.

So, I'm sitting in the boat for about a week feeling frustrated not knowing what to do.  I look up and there's this older man standing on the dock looking down at me with a smile on his face.  We exchanged the typical "Hi, how are ya," with a long pause.  He continued...

"Did you sail in here?"

I said, "Yes."

I told him the story that I told you about sailing over and leaving the boat there while feeling frustrated because I'm ready to hit the sea again.

With a smile on his face, the old man took control, "You know, at this time of the year, the only real direction that you should go is south, down the Virgin Islands."

"I know and I'm considering doing that, but really my home is in North Carolina. That's where my dog, Lucky is and that's where I want to go."

He paused again and looked off seemingly into space with a smile on his face. Looking down upon me he said, "Really the only time of the year to sail back to the United States, to sail west, is the first week in December. If you go before that or if you go after that, you won't make it."

I was looking at him thinking, "What? The first week in December is more than two weeks ahead of time."

Everybody understands weather.  It's unpredictable. I mean you can say, "Yeah, in a couple of days, there is a pretty good possibility is going to be blah blah blah," and nine times out of ten you might be right. Try predicting a week in advance.  The percentage rate of being correct goes way down.  Two weeks in advance forget about it.  Remember that story I told you a few videos ago about running into that storm?  The "professionals" were wrong less than 24 hours in advance. That crap blew up overnight.

For him to say to me, looking straight into my eyes, "The first week in December is when you want to go. Don't go before, don't go after," is beyond mere prediction from a human.  No mere mortal can do that...or can they?

"May you have a blessed sail and wait for that first week in December."

I reached down to grab whatever it was I was drinking, I looked up and he was gone. I didn't see him down the dock in either direction and I couldn't really see over the top of the dock because of a low tide.  The dock was much higher than my sailboat. I climbed up the wooden ladder that's on the dock wall because I wanted to say something to him again. I wanted to get more information from him.  Again this guy looked like he was in his 90s and he was just gone.

A couple weeks go by and I'm frustrated. I'm checking the weather multiple times a day, trying to figure out where I should go, whether it's due south down to the Virgin Islands or there was possibility of going to the Bahamas, which is closer to Miami. I can get to the Bahamas in like six days and crossing over to Miami is less than a day sail. I could have predicted that easy and then sail up the coast back to North Carolina.

Then all of a sudden in late November, I noticed the weather window starting to open.  I set sail out of Bermuda a few days before the 1st of December and arrived in Wilmington, NC on December 6, 2011 after being alone at sea for nine days and nights.  It turns out the dude was right.

What did I learn?

Sometimes we are given signs.

That day that I was sitting on my boat wondering what I was going to do, I wasn't saying, "Give me a sign God."

I wasn't looking for one. I was just sitting there chilling. Somebody approached me, something happened, and in the moment I didn't realize it, but I was given a sign.  I paid attention it.  My Soul paid attention to it.

It was intense on the way back, and I'll talk about some of that intensity in next video but I paid attention to my Inner Voice and listened. The way I learned to listen on the sail to Bermuda.  The sail back was completely different because of those lessons of listening to that voice within we all share...our Internal Compass.

What is the old way of thinking?

You know what it is. "Everything can be explained, don't go looking for signs, don't pay attention to signs."

That's arrogant. There's so much out there and within us that can't be explained and we all know it.

How do you deal with it?

Just become humble to it, become open to it. Don't be scared of it. The Divinity within us is there for a reason. It is there to help and guide us as human beings on this potentially scary path of life.  A path we all travel.  Yes, it can be challenging sometimes. You could back away from the signs given to you...not pay attention to them.  That action could be at your peril.

If I had not paid attention to the old man, it could have been bad. It could have been very bad.  To me, that old man was an Angel.  Say what you will, but I firmly believe I was presented with a sign from God through an Angel.

In the next video, I'm going to talk about an experience I had on the way back to North Carolina. It was a very powerful experience, in some ways one of the most powerful experiences of my entire life.

Until then remember...

Discover what your Soul wants...

tell your ego to sit back and watch.

Peace to you,
